Our projects are a judicious mix of fun events and serious, academic ventures. Here are some of the projects our trainees worked on:
INDUSTRY-SPONSORED PROJECTS
Trainees and faculty are encouraged to acquire production-related projects. Among the particularly appreciated recent projects have been two short, corporate films for Forbes Marshall, a communication management plan (including a short film) for CARA, an apex adoption agency, ongoing audience research project for ETV Networks, critical documentation of flood relief work in Raigad district of Maharashtra for Maitri, mapping of communication needs among Pune's industries for a Mumbai-based PR agency (undisclosed name), etc. |

| 5TH ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL, PUNE ORGANIZED BY AASHAY FILM CLUB AND ISC (NOVEMBER 2007) |

ISC has an annual commitment to this mega-event. Aashay Films and ISC, jointly organized this festival in association with Asian Film Foundation, Mumbai screening 70 films from 18 Asian Countries. This year's Zenith Asia Award was given to Yash Chopra. Trainees covered the event on video, volunteered as event managers, briefed audiences about the films to be screened, coordinated research, logistics and administration. The project highlighted trainees' creative, technical, problem-solving and organizational skills, apart from sensitizing trainees to the vast array of international films. |

| ROLLPLAY, ISC'S FILM FESTIVAL SERIES (25-27 FEBRUARY 2007) |

| National Film Archive of India (NFAI) auditorium witnessed the inauguration of 3rd RollPlay, a film festival series of ISC, by renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. Eight popular movies from Hollywood and Bollywood of the “Musical” genre were showcased, which kept the audience enthralled.
Keeping with the traditions of RollPlay all the films to be screened were either award winning or have been highly appreciated at their times. The impressive lineup of movies was selected to appeal as crowd pullers. |

| The inauguration proceeded by a brief introduction to musicals by Mr. Ashutosh Javadekar followed by the screening of the celebrated Hollywood blockbuster 'My Fair Lady (1964). Other films which were screened were 'Fiddler on the Roof', 'A Star is Born', 'Sound of Music', 'Albela', 'Savalee', 'Singing in the Rain', 'Thoda Sa Romani Ho Jaye'.The first RollPlay, “Mystery Theatre”, showcased 12 films in the film noir genre.
The second in our series, “Fantasy Theatre”, showcased 16 films, the best of international classics in that genre. |

| INDY'S: AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN MASS COMMUNICATION (JANUARY 2008) |

Indy's awards for excellence in Mass Communication, the second in the series, was inaugurated amidst a star studded show graced by a galaxy of stalwarts from media and marketing business. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Nirupam Sahay, Vice President (Marketing) - SBI Cards & Payment Services Pvt. Ltd. and the Guest of Honour were Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Managing Director - Mahindra Renault Private Limited, Mr. Bharat Kapadia, Executive Director-Bhaskar Group,
Mr. Arun Anant, CEO - UTV News Ltd, Mr. Manjunath Jyothinagar, Group President (Business Development)-Gitanjali Group of Companies and Mr. Anurag Batra, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher- exchange4media Group. |

Indy's awards felicitated bigwigs from Advertising, Films, PR, Media, and Marketing fields respectively for their trend setting contributions which have brought about dramatic transformation in the industry. Dr Raju Bhatia, CEO of Fun and Joy at Work set the ball rolling for an eventful evening. The mavericks like
Mr. R. Balakrishnan walked away with the Award for his film "Cheeni Kum" as the "Best Film of the Year" and Mr. Shimit Amin shared the same red carpet winning in the Best Directors Category for "Chak De". Some other awards categories were media personality of the year, creative professional of the year, most creative ads on television, news channel of the year and many more.
Indy's awards in a sense celebrated the spirit of creativity in Advertising and in other realms of media business. The common thread binding every award winner was the passion for success and their never satisfying quench for excellence. The tag line "Never give up on your dreams" seemed to unfold itself into reality from the passion generated by all the winners. It seemed the sheer passion for excellence had gripped the audience. |

| SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVE |
- ISC trainees actively organized and participated in street plays as part of 'Noise Pollution' awareness programme at Ganesh pandals during Ganesh Chaturthi (September 2007).
- Our trainees developed two promotional films on the social initiatives, the Forbes Marshall Livelihood Advancement Business School and the Life Skills Education Programme of Forbes Marshall, India.
- ISC trainees, in association with Maitri, an NGO dedicated to disaster management, undertook 10-day relief operations in Raigad District and donated medicines to the affected people in the region.

WHAT FUELS THE MEDIA? A MEDIA SEMINAR (FEB 2005)
This media seminar saw prominent personalities like Basu Chatterji, the renowned filmmaker, M V Kamath, Chairperson, Prasar Bharati, Ramesh Chandran, Executive Director, Indo-US Parliamentary Forum, and Ravi Deshpande, Ex-CEO Lemon Communications share with the audiences the nuances and trends in media in their areas of expertise.
Managed entirely by the trainees of ISC, this seminar was highly appreciated by various academicians and intellectuals across the city. |

DEMOCRACY AND THE STATE OF THE MEDIA: A TWO-DAY SEMINAR (SEPTEMBER 2005)
The regional seminar, jointly organized by Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC-India), Friedrich Ebert Stiftung(FES), and ISC, examined the effects of media on our democracies.
Trainees managed the entire event, from assisting the speakers in topic research and briefing them on the topics to preparing their presentations, identifying venue, liaisoning with vendors, designing and printing, sales, media relations and post-event action.
Their documentary film on the floods in Maharashtra was screened at the seminar.

TSUNAMI AWARENESS SEMINAR, ISC, PUNE (JAN 2005)
This trainee initiated seminar was organized immediately after the 26/12 disaster to educate students of Indira Group of Institutes on and why tsunami occurs. The seminar also discussed various effective disaster management techniques that can save lives and resources of many. The speakers at the seminar included Dr. G B Pant-Director IITM, Pune, Ms. Vijaya Moorthy, Coordinator Red Cross, Pune, Dr. Abhijit Vaidya, cardiologist and founder of Arogya Sena and Mr. Mathew Mattan, CYDA. |

PULOTSAV (DEC-JAN 2005)
Pulotsav was a first 15-day cultural festival organized by Aashay Film Club in association with Indira School of Communication as a tribute to P L Deshpande, the great Marathi laureate. The trainees of ISC were responsible for organizing and managing the festival with key contribution in covering the entire event on Sony PD Camera. This festival provided trainees with an opportunity to explore their talent in areas of audio-visual coverage and event management. |

RYLA (Dec 2004)
Mass Communication trainees provided audio-visual coverage for the International Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) hosted by the Rotary Club of Nigdi, Pune. Being of the first trainee initiated projects, the four day event provided an incredible learning platform where trainees covered seminar sessions. Outdoor activities like rock-climbing and interviewed speakers and other dignitaries associated with Rotary International. This was then made into a 8.5 minute promotional film titled Odyssey 2004 for Rotary International. |

ROTARY CLUB OF POONA, PUBLIC RELATIONS PROJECT (AUG 2004-JAN 2005)
Trainees handled media relations and assisted in other PR activities for the largest Rotary Club chapter in the city. Reporting to the PR chief of Rotary, they assisted in planning the Club’s campaigns, wrote media releases, planned and designed brochures and posters for ongoing and new campaigns, and managed guest relations. |

UNDP TV News Research Project (Sept 2004)
The United Nations Development Programme outsourced a media mapping project which involved recording news and news magazine on various news channels over several weeks, and then evaluating them. Trainees also researched the current status of Indian Television an wrote a detailed research article on it. |
